01

The operating chain

An event may involve a pilot, remote-support staff, dispatcher, commercial operator, maintenance provider or vertiport team. A useful review identifies each entity’s role rather than treating “the air taxi company” as a single actor. Contracts and certificates may clarify who controlled each function.

02

Records to request

Depending on the operation, relevant material could include flight plans, weather, training files, duty records, maintenance releases, dispatch messages, checklists and aircraft data. Availability differs. An early preservation letter can help define the scope before ordinary retention cycles or repairs change the record.

03

Negligence still needs proof

A bad outcome alone is not proof that a pilot or operator breached a duty. Counsel must compare conduct with the applicable rules and reasonable practices, then connect an error to the harm. Federal operating rules and state injury law may both matter.
